The mission of the American Motorcycle Association to recognize, record, and preserve motorcycling heritage, finds a delightfully expressed at the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame, located approximately 30 minutes east of downtown Columbus in Pickerington. Although the exterior of the building is unassuming, once inside visitors are treated to an immense collection of motorcycles and other memorabilia. The museum begins with a selection of antique motorcycles, then moves into the golden age of classic motorcycles featuring bikes designed by both Japanese legend Soichiro Honda as well as the founders of American powerhouse Harley-Davidson.

As visitors continue through the museum, they will be treated with a variety of bikes, both new and old, ranging from oddities like Evel Knievel’s Harley-Davidson to modern day sport and racing bikes. Entries from Honda, Harley-Davidson, Indian, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and many others are all featured. At the end of the tour, visitors can enter the Hall of Fame section, where individual contributors to the sport are recognized.

Other sections of the museum include an exhibit highlighting the cultural and legal struggles motorcycle riders have faced throughout the years. There is also a section downstairs that features cultural motorcycle memorabilia, especially classic toys and art objects. There is also a traveling exhibit space.

All in all, visitors will enjoy the vast selection and variety of the motorcycles on display. The American Motorcycle Association Hall of Fame and Museum is an underappreciated gem in the central Ohio region.
