Patchwork Jewels of Monroe County-Loop Two
Monroe County rises from the banks of the Ohio River and spreads across the Appalachian foothills of eastern Ohio. Settled in the early nineteenth century, its history of agriculture, mining, and commerce is revealed in thriving towns dotting the rural landscape. Celebrating its bicentennial in 2015, Monroe County treasures that history, using barns and other buildings as canvases on which residents have recorded their heritage. Drive through Monroe County with host Karen Schaefer to places that explore the history of barns and quilting. Along the way, you'll visit surprising sites and learn how a community art project continues to inspire residents and travelers alike.
Please remember that quilt barns are located on private property and should be viewed from public roads. Don’t forget to exercise caution if you stop to take pictures of the barns.
